We are excited to begin a new chapter in our film programming with Anangong Miigaading (‘Star Wars’ in Anishinaabemowin), presented at the Park Rapids Armory and Events Center on May 2 at 7:00 PM, with additional showings at the Pine Point New School on May 4 at 5:30 PM and a special screening for regional high school students. These screenings also feature Ajuawak Kapashesit, the Ojibwe dub’s voice of Han Solo, who is a graduate of Detroit Lakes High School and was raised on the White Earth Reservation. Ajuawak is an accomplished actor, director, and language keeper, and will share reflections on language revitalization and the experience of bringing a film into a new galaxy of meaning through Anishinaabemowin. This marks the beginning of our expanded film festival programming. Please join us in celebrating this milestone!

Honoring the Chinese Year of the Fire Horse, this exhibit explores the profound relationships between horses and human societies across cultures, with a special focus on Indigenous horse cultures of North America. It is a gathering of stories that reflect strength, kinship, and continuity. The exhibit will be on display throughout the month of May, with a reception between 1–3 PM at the Park Rapids Armory Gallery on May 2.

We will update the calendar with details of any events once the programming is finalized!
