Mark Your Calendars for Annual Events
Join the Giiwedinong Treaty Rights and Culture Museum and our community partners for the Procession of the Species on Friday, June 5 in Park Rapids — a colorful community celebration of biodiversity, creativity, and the return of the monarch butterflies to northern Minnesota.
Inspired by Olympia, Washington’s famous Procession of the Species, this event will feature giant puppets, costumes, drumming, music, community art, and a public Procession through Park Rapids ending with a celebration in Heartland Park.

Honoring the Chinese Year of the Fire Horse, this exhibit explores the profound relationships between horses and human societies across cultures, with a special focus on Indigenous horse cultures of North America. It is a gathering of stories that reflect strength, kinship, and continuity. The exhibit will be on display throughout the month of May!
